Plano, Mesquite, Duncanville, McKinney, Frisco, Richardson and YOUR Lewisville Cyclones, Thunder, Lady Lightning, Mightly Bolts, Skills, Hurricanes and Earthquake hooped it up this weekend at the Annual Lewisville ISD Special Olympics Team Basketball Tournament. Thank you athletes and coaches for a great day of basketball competition and fun, Special thanks to Lewisville ISD principals for the use of your beautiful gyms.

The Flower Mound Jaguars' Varsity Boys' Basketball Team presents senior Kevin Keyser with a team jersey and autographed basketball. Players, faculty and fans honored Kevin at the Jaguars' last home game for his four years as team trainer, his spirit and the inspiration he has provided the team. Kevin is a valuable member of your LISD Special Olympics Team Cyclones. Great job, Kevin!!!
Jonathan Blackmon was selected to attend Special Olympics Capitol Hill Day, in Washington, D.C. March 10 - 13. Jonathan was one of seven athletes selected who represented the State of Texas at this prestigious event. Way to go, Jonathan!

Breene O'Donnell is the first recipient of the KSE-Texas, Inc. LISDSO Scholarship. Breene, a senior at Flower Mound High School is a good student who competes in swimming, golf and bowling and enjoys computer games. She will attend NCTC in the fall. Breene says she always wanted to go to college and is very excited about starting this fall.
Coach Wayne, owner of KSE-Texas, Inc is certified in track and swimming and volunteers countless hours with our athletes year after year. Barb volunteers every year with our Lightning Swim Team. Both Wayne and Barb downplay the importance of their contributions saying only: "It's all about the kids. The only thing that matters is they get to continue their education."
Keep Lewisville Beautiful's Annual Spring Clean Up was held April 12th. Our group of twenty one athletes and parents got right to work. The day was cut short though, when our intrepid group uncovered some angry bees.

June 28, 2008 Southlake, Rockwall, Plano, Mansfield, Coppell, Ellis County, MAC Gators, and Your Lightning swim team competed Saturday in The 5th Annual James Althaus Invitational Swim Meet at the beautiful Sun Valley Aquatic Center. Thank you Lewisville Parks and Leisure Services, Mr. Wayne Pickett, Manager, and lifeguard staff. Thanks to Al's Chuckwagon BBQ for the great food!
Coach Domer accepted a proclamation from Lewisville mayor Gene Carey honoring our 25th Anniversary and took the opportunity to thank the city of Lewisville, especially the Parks and Leisure Services department, for their support.
In July, we say goodbye to Ryan Bannon, our great volunteer who is moving to upstate New York. Maybe we should have gotten him a parka!

Bruce L and 39 other swimmers competed in the 2008 Area Swim Meet at the Frisco Natatorium Friday and Saturday, August 22nd and 23rd. Bruce shows off the gold medal he won swimming the 25 meter freestyle in a little over 17 seconds! Way to go Bruce, and all your Lewisville Lightning Swim Teamates! You make us proud!

Cameron was diagnosed with Lukemia earlier this year. David is the Assistant Director of Area 10 for Special Olympics Texas.
