When six become one:
The 2008 Summer Games highlights for the Tidal Wave Basketball team focus on team building from beginning to end. Two of our three games were decided by one basket. Six athletes rapidly showed how practice has its rewards. Our games were tough, our fans supportive, and our coach nervous. Our two big inside guys (Ken and Austin) performed exceptionally well on rebounding, defense & foul shooting despite ankle injuries. Randy continually worked into good positioning and converted several offensive rebounds into buckets. Bobbie Jo's defense kept the opposing backcourt off-balance and Thomas slid in closer and racked up big scoring bursts in two games. Our floor general, Tim, kept the Tidal Wave balanced & surging toward the GOLD. He swished a crowd thrilling buzzer beater and sank the final two points of the gold medal game with 12 seconds from the foul line. Great job Tidal Wave- you represented Lewisville ISD SO on and off the court with perfection.
For those of you who are superstitious: The team voted to stick with the Friday sweaty blue uniform into the medal game- I think their skill and teamwork were the true factors of success!! Coach Les
Every team member had good sportsmanship and played with excellent teamwork to win every game. In the game against Flower Mound, Tim, listening to his coach counting down with the clock, timed a perfect half court shot at the buzzer for half time, to earn 3 points and make his team members and fans roar with excitement! Thomas was a hot, shot, all weekend, earning 20 points for hoops in one of the games. We had two injured athletes Austin hurt his ankle in the second game, and Ken the week before, but both poured it on with their ankles wrapped. Austin put forth a great defensive effort and showed his true gentle spirit, by helping opposing team members to their feet after they fell! Ken's focus was amazing under pressure, sinking much needed foul shots! Randy was great with his rebounds and passing! Bobbie Jo found that she could play an intense game, even without the use of her secret weapon! We're very proud of our team! Onlookers said our team looked like they've played together for years! The Tidal Wave Team are all incredible athletes and a joy to coach. We're very happy they won the gold - they worked very hard to earn it! I applaud you! Coach Vicki

Teamwork has been our motto all season long. Before almost every practice and every game we would cheer teamwork. Teamwork was what this tournament was all about. Everyone contributed this weekend, from Joey's game winning shot in game one to Ben and Bruce crashing the boards in our final game. Teamwork brought us home the gold. Coach Brian
